Asheville High School building was designed by Douglas Ellington and completed on Asheville High School Asheville North Carolina
February 5,1929. For a time after the stock market crash of September 1929 the school closed its doors sending students to two other schools. In 1935 they opened their doors again renaming the school Lee H. Edwards High School after its principal who died that year.
In 1969 the school was renamed back to Asheville High School.
