Description
In Big Cataloochee Hiram Caldwell built Caldwell House between 1898-1903 . "In 1834, Henry's son, James Colwell (17971867) moved the family to Cataloochee. The spelling of "Colwell" was eventually changed to "Caldwell." The Caldwells were accompanied by the family of Young Bennett. Both families settled near the heart of Big Cataloochee, where their descendants would remain until the government forced them out in the 1930s."Hattie Caldwell Davis, Cataloochee Valley: Vanished Settlements of the Great Smoky Mountains (Alexander, N.C.: Worldcomm, 1997), 17.

There is this sweet juxtaposition of the rushing water and what appears to be an abandoned country home. Fine shot!
Carol Montoya replied:
Thank you, Joe. This homestead is part of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park in a section called Cattaloochee.
