Description
In the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Cataloochee was once home to an Appalachian community and Cherokee hunting ground. The Caldwell family moved into the heart of Big Cataloochee around 1814. Later when our government decided to build the Great Smoky National Park the Caldwell descendants were forced out in the 1930s.
Here in the valley the Caldwell's barn was built around 1923 across the stream from their home.
