In the Great Smoky Mountains National Park along the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail a section of flume line from Alfred Reagan's grist mill overflows. American pioneers settled in this region between 1800 and 1810. By 1900 the community had grown into a mountain hamlet with a road, school, store, church, and a grist mill. These mountain waters were the source of power to turn the wheel.
