Description
Photographed in the The Audubon Swamp Garden on sixty acres of black-water cypress and tupelo swamp on South Carolina's Magnolia Plantation.
The Great White Egret grace in nature becomes apparent during mating season displays it plumage to attract females after he builds a nest as well. Often confused with the Snowy Egret, the Great White Egret lores turn lime green during breeding season. The Great White Egret is the largest with a height 36-40 inches and a wingspan 50 inches.
What do you do when you have a male egret who likes posing for the camera? You keep on shooting!
I love how the wind caught his feathers on his head.
