Artist's Description
Storm clouds loom over Greenville First Baptist Church in downtown Greenville, South Carolina. The historic church located at 101 W. McBee Avenue in Greenville, South Carolina.
"The Greek Revival building, designed by architect Samuel Sloan, was built in 1858 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. In 2011, the building was renovated, removing side galleries and balconies that were added in 1915. It is now the home of Grace Church."
Samuel Sloan the (March 7, 1815-July 19, 1884) was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania, a Philadelphia-based architect and died in Raleigh, North Carolina where he had opened an office in Raleigh after the war.
