In 1929 the historic Grove Arcade in downtown Asheville, North Carolina was completed. At one time the arcade was closed and taken over during WWII by the Federal Government because of it's safe location. Today the Grove Arcade includes shops, restaurants, offices and 42 luxury apartments. "It is generally conceded that the Arcade Building would do justice to a city many times the size of Asheville. It is by far the finest structure in the South and there are few, if any, finer in the entire country.� � E.W.
