Second Presbyterian Church, Charleston South Carolina is the fourth oldest structure in Charleston.
The Second Presbyterian Church came about do to a growing congregation from the First Presbyterian Church under Reverend Andrew Flinn. A group of men in the year of 1809 begun plans for the Second Presbyterian Church. The land was obtained from the Wragg family, and built on 342 Meeting St., Charleston, South Carolina.
James and John Gordon were both the buildings and the architects in the Jeffersonian style. The church's bell tower was not completed due to due to structural issues, and later gave in 1862 the Confederacy was given the church's bell a melted down for canon metal.
The church also became known as "Flynn's Church," after the church's first pastor!
