Rhododendrons blooming along the Catawba river in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
In North Carolina traveling west on I40 make a stop along the way to Catawba Falls. Part of Pisgah National Forest the parking lot is closed due to heavy rains taking out the bridge allowing only foot traffic to the trail-head. Part the the left of the bridge along the river. As you begin your hike you will cross the river, but do not worry because there are plenty of rocks to help keep your feet dry, or walk through the water for it is not deep. Hiking along the Catawba River with many smaller cascades along the way. This is one of those smaller waterfalls. As you walking along the beautiful trail you hear sounds of rushing water with plenty of short side trails you'll see. So many side trails leading to the rivers make this a must see excursion.
