Description
Three Shrimp Boats Shem Creek In Mt. Pleasant South Carolina
At one time Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant housed 65 shrimping boats at one time now houses one sixth that amount. With few shrimping boats, the Simmon family allow the the city of Mount Pleasant to build a 1,100 linear-foot boardwalk partly over his property giving the public and visitors access to Shem Creek.
"It's a unique opportunity," Simmons said. "It's going to be a safe way for people to walk down there and see what's going on. It's such a unique area, and the town is really trying to highlight it."
While I was there families were kayaking and boating out to Charleston harbor, two female dolphins and it's baby swam up and down the boat lane, as well as pelicans hung out on the shrimp boats. On the opposite side of the boardwalk beautiful marsh dotted with old docks falling down, birds hang out, and an otter playing on an old dock.
Watch and you will see some much wildlife going mostly unnoticed.
