Lilium superbum a native to the eastern and central part of America has several commons names. Here in the mountains of Western North Carolina, they are known as Turkish Cap Lily do to the shape which resembles a type of hat worn by early Turkish people.
This species of lily is on the engendered species, threatened or vulnerable in several states.
