My photography has become an evolution of melding images into art and allowing my artistic side to fly. Each image has its own life and story to tell. So come explore with me the world of art through my photography. I was born and grew up in Miami Florida loving nature. In 2007, I took up a small digital camera while traveling North America with my husband Frank, our dog Gwen, and our cat Psycho. We finally settled in Western North Carolina loving the mountains. As a painter life moved me in a different direction and windows opened. I have always laid out my composition before me. I have worked in all mediums at one time or another, but watercolor and pastel were my modes of choice. During my travels, photography became a...

I hiked up there a lot more often when I lived in Old Fort. I did a watercolor of the Upper Cascade years ago that I really should upload to my website, though at this point it looks "primitive." My best photos of the Falls were on film, almost everything is digital now. JD
Carol Montoya replied:
I have several photographs in my waterfall group from along the trail. New sections opened and closed after serious flooding occurred several years ago. The bridge was damage to where there is only foot traffic allowed now. Still waiting on US government to repair, and finish the work they started.
Joel Deutsch
We ran into one like that in northeast Oregon -- spectacular! I'll have to dig that out to post one day. I've looked at some of your work, you have a terrific eye. Since you're in Asheville, you're probably familiar with Catawba Falls. If not, you should be. (After the smoke clears...) JD
Carol Montoya replied:
We go to Catawba falls all the time. Have not been to the top, since I hate the steep trail. We live near Swannanoa so it just a shot trip over the pass.
Joel Deutsch
Wonderful shot! I guess I'll have to head for Newland to see these waterfalls. JD
Carol Montoya replied:
Thank you! Joel, were heading back from Roan, and ran into these falls. Right off the road.
