Description
Early morning hours along South Carolina's Folly Beach large jellyfish can be found beached on shore. Folly beach pier lies in the background.
Cannonball jellyfish are a valuable export, which end up on dining tables across Asia. The jellyfish are dried, preserved and packaged before being sold to a seafood distributor that ships them to Japan, China, and Thailand.
Georgia is the third largest commercial fishery for these edible jellyfish with only five boats permitted to catch them.
Protecting the Cannonball jellyfish insures the survival of Leatherback Sea Turtle in our waters, since their main source of food in the are these edible jellyfish.
