Description
Juvenile Green Heron II
This Juvenile Green Heron was hopping from dead tree twigs siting on top of the duckweed, finding a great place to hunt for fish, insects and amphibians.
Juveniles have buffy spots and feather edging on their wings. They are browner, with pale streaking on their neck.
Green Herons live around wooded ponds, marshes, rivers, reservoirs, and estuaries. Here the Green Heron was found hanging out at Cypress Gardens in South Carolina among the baby alligators today.
